Creating cherished items from meaningful past events in our lives. What an amazing way to preserve the past for the future to experience the love.
This has to be one of my favorite projects, by taking heritage fabrics and making them purposefully. Sharing with you today is a beautiful christening gown that was redesigned from not one , but three wedding gowns Belonging to the mother, grandmother and aunt. They had requested that the gown be long and regal and that's exactly what they recieved. From the gowns I fashioned a beautiful lace robe, with the original sleeves from gown #3, dear aunts. The main gown was a combination of all three, with the bodice closest to the heart from the grandmothers. The delicate overlay was from the mothers gown of organza and beads.
Following are images of the original gowns and the process of the work leading up to the special day with the child being presented for her christening.
If you have special fabrics that you are saving, maybe this is something that I can design for you as well.
